NORWOOD, BRIAN 8/99 North Carolina defensive tackle Brian Norwood was arrested Wednesday and charged with raping an 11-year-old girl. Norwood, 19, was charged with two counts of first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree sex offense of a child, three counts of felony crime against nature, and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child. A grand jury indicted Norwood and nine other men on sex charges resulting from a series of incidents alleged to have occurred two years ago. Following his arrest, Norwood was released after posting a $24,000 bond. North Carolina coach Carl Torbush suspended Norwood from the team after learning of the situation on Monday. ``Brian Norwood has been suspended from all football-related activities until his pending legal situation is fully resolved,'' Torbush said.
